Hanoi introduces “The Hanoi Train” experience

August 20, 2025

A brand-new tourism product, “The Hanoi Train” will officially launch on August 19. This is the first inner-city tourism railway in Hanoi and will be a highlight of the city’s travel offerings.

Vietnam Railways, together with the Hanoi Department of Tourism and other partners, will launch a new tourism train called “The Hanoi Train” on August 19. The launch marks the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day on September 2.

The train has 10 two-story carriages, the first of its kind in Vietnam. Five passenger carriages are designed with themes of the five historic city gates of Hanoi: O Quan Chuong, O Cau Den, O Dong Mac, O Cau Giay, and O Cho Dua. The interior combines classic and modern styles, featuring large windows that offer panoramic views.

In the first stage, 7 carriages will operate with 3 trips per day. The train departs from Hanoi Station and passes Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien, and Tu Son in Bac Ninh before returning. Departure times are 8:00, 14:00, and 20:00.

The train is designed for both transport and cultural experiences. It offers space for relaxation, photo opportunities, and cultural activities, such as music and mini-exhibitions. In the future, restaurant and café carriages will be added to create a complete tourism service on the railway.
